Principal David Neujahr

A quality education is important for children, especially during the early years of their lives. A Christian education, however, is vital. It is during the elementary years that a child starts to lay the building blocks for their future. The fundamental skills needed for their academic, social, and especially spiritual lives are learned during this stage. It is through quality Christian Education that we are able to not only provide an excellent education, we are also able to train children in God’s Word. As a Christian teacher I have the privilege of sharing God’s Word with the children. I try to model a Christ-like attitude for the children and nurture them using God’s Word, so that they will grow in both their academic and biblical knowledge and understanding.

About the Principal:
Mr. Neujahr and his wife, Jane, both graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College which is now known as Martin Luther College, in New Ulm, MN. After graduating in December of the 1979-1980 school year, Jane was assigned to teach at Emmanuel Lutheran School in Tempe, Arizona where she taught kindergarten through the second grade for two years. Dave graduated in 1980 and spent one year as a dormitory supervisor and part-time instructor at Evergreen Lutheran High School in Dupont, Washington.

In 1981, Mr. Neujahr and Jane were married and moved to Watertown, South Dakota where Dave became the athletic director and taught in grades 7-9 from 1981 to 1987. While in Watertown, their three sons, Philip, Eric, and Lee were born. In 1987, Mr. Neujahr  accepted a call to Emanuel Lutheran School in New London, Wisconsin where he was athletic director, upper grade Social Studies teacher, and 8th grade homeroom teacher. Jane re-entered the teaching ministry while in New London, teaching half days in a fifth grade classroom. She also served as the choir director for several years.

In 1995 Mr. Neujahr accepted a call to St. Stephen Lutheran School in Fallbrook, CA where he became the principal, athletic director, and upper grades teacher. While Mr. Neujahr served in Fallbrook, Jane was called to serve as English teacher and choral instructor at California Lutheran High School in Wildomar, CA. She served there from 1997 to 2006. In 2007 the Neujahrs were on the move again after accepting a call to Zion Lutheran School in Hartland, Wisconsin. There Mr. Neujahr served as principal and 7-8 grade teacher. Jane was called by Zion in 2008 to serve as the 3-4 grade teacher and school music director.

Mr. Neujahr and Jane’s strong desire to once again be close to family led to Dave’s retirement and Jane’s resignation from teaching in 2016. They bought a home in Oceanside and moved in during June. Upon arriving in California, they transferred their membership to Beautiful Saviour so they could live close enough to remain involved in congregational life.
